New Club House Fund Adult Tournament 2007

"The Fun Tournament - July 2007"

As part of our efforts to raise funds for a new Club House, we held an Adult fun 5-a-side tournament.

A BIG thank you to everyone as we raised a fantastic £2665 for the GCBFC club house fund!

The inaugural Adult Tournament took place on Sunday 8th July with the first games kicking off at 11 a.m. on Stoughton Recreation Ground, the home of Guildford City Boys and Girls. The event proved very popular as it was over subscribed and the first twenty teams made their way into one of the four leagues.

The blustery wet conditions experienced the previous weekend during the Boys tournament had all but blown away to give us a lovely sunny day, perfect for a days' football. When not playing, the barbeque, GCBFC merchandise stand and sweet shop were all on hand to fulfil orders.

As the Leagues completed and the matches whittled down to the League winner's and runners up knockout section, the beer tent with its' selection of ice cold drinks became ever more popular for the exchange of stories on how everyone had faired throughout the day.

An excellent day enjoyed by all, is now being discussed as an annual fixture so watch this space! A big thank you from GCBFC goes to Gary and Tracy Wallis for their organisation, to all of the volunteers and players that made the day the success it was.
